You may remember that I was complaining about not having enough classes at my public school?
Today I was told that they are adding two 2 hour(60 minutes) classes ( to my class schedule. These will be teacher classes...not only of the teachers at my school but from other schools (or so I was told). All added up I will be teaching 29 "hours" a week...but making in excess of 3 million won gross (hopefully, anyways...I haven't taught my regular classload yet, there's always some kind of event that ends up canceling a class or two. I just had 4 classes canceled this week alone. ) Here's hoping the gravy train will pick up soon..and I plan to be on board when it does.
"hour"= 40 min period. |

I take it this is good news.
I'm not sure you intended it to, but it sounds like you are paid by the hour. I'm teaching 22 required classes a week (but the one teacher class last thing on Friday has never met, so I guess I should say I teach 21 hours a week) and 6 'extra classes' for which I'm paid extra. As far as I can tell, I'm paid if a required class does not meet and 'get to' make up an extra class if it is cancelled. Is your situation different?
How do you feel about teaching 6 hours a day? When I was young and full of spunk, I thought 5 hours a day I could dazzle the crowd and earn my keep, but if they added one extra class, all of the classes suffered from my workload. Now that I'm not as young as I was , I still can do 6 or even 7 classes, but I come straight home and take a nap. |
