Hello,
My employer wants me to hand over the Alien card to them the last day of my employment. They have been very shady so far and I am very reluctant to give it to them since I thouht I had to give it to the Immigration dept at the airport.
What happens if I give them the card and do not bring it to the airport? Should I refuse to give it to them? They were pretty forceful that I should give it to them the last day I am here.
I need help badly. Please respond to [email protected] !!
I am very scared !
Thanks |

Do not give it to them. Never never never. It is your card and issued to you as identification. You must have it with you at all times...it says so on the big board in immigration. |

If you don't hand over the ARC card at the check-in counter at the airport, you'll be sent to the immigration desk, delayed for a while and fined a chunk of cash before they let you on your way.
I have no idea what your employer is thinking here, but if his intentions are honest, he can phone immigration to confirm your position. If he's got some shady intentions for your card, i.e., forgery, then at least it'll be your last day and you can just wriggle free.
Good luck.
p.s. What do you mean by "forceful"? |

You don't need help. Just refuse to give it. What could he possibly need it for on your last day of employment? That's crazy talk, man. |

Tell your boss you lost it. Give him a copy of ARC if he needs it for some paper work. |

Absolutely. Don't even get sucked into arguing with them. Tell them "No" and walk away. No need to explain to them why, just don't.

You can be just as forceful with your "No". What are they going to do? Tackle you to the ground and forcibly take it from you? That would be a police call waiting to happen.
Every time they ask, say "No". When they ask again, say "No" again. When they tell you FORCEFULLY to give it them, them them FORCEFULLY "NO". Just repeat it to yourself, it's the only required answer. No explanation necessary (if you offer a reason why, they'll just come up with another lie, uh...counterreason). Keep your answer to "No" and they have no argument for it. When they ask the eventual "Why?", reply with "Because the answer is No". |

Don't, don't, don't under any circumstances give them your ARC. You must surrender it either at the airport or an immigration office, after which the immigration office will issue you an exit order. Tell your boss to get stuffed, it aint gonna happen. |
