|

My hagwan is closing due to ill-health of the director and financial problems. The shock is just settling in and I'm wondering what on earth to do. There are so many jobs out there and I don't feel ready to head home yet.
Is this common among hagwans these days? I've been here only 3-4 months.
I'd like another job but ewhere?
Do you like your town or city? Why? |

Come to Seoul. Stay somewhere cheap, look for work, and you'll have a job in no time. Besides, why would you want to live anywhere else? |

I've ben there before and find it a little over-whelming actually.
But tell me why do you like it?
I do like Insa-dong and itaewan and the shopping is great - the markets are great, but to live there, I'm not sure. |

If you really want to stay and don't mind the split shift try YBM for a year. You will get paid every month and there won't be any funny deductions from your monthly pay check. |

Hmmm... you have an advantage in finding new work: Since your hagwon is actually shutting down, your visa can be transfered. Get the Letter of Release from your boss, go to immigration and explain the school is closing and get the forms you need to transfer your visa. This means NO visa run. Saves time and money. Your new boss will be happy, though you miss out on a trip to Japan.

If you like Seoul, but don't actually want to live in Seoul.
There are plenty of satellite cities which are within easy travelling distance by bus or subway to Insadong etc.
I live in a city which is 30 mins from Seoul by bus. I love it because even though Seoul is thirty mins away, you wouldn't know it because I am surrounded by mountains, trees etc.

So are forum moderators but we don't hold it against your lot.
I am going to say the magic word of sattelite city. I would move there in a heart beat if I had the chance..

I have had a lot of offers and many from Ilsan.
What's happening up there - a mass exodus?
Too close to the North? |
