I find that white Christian males are the only group on Earth who are actually encouraged to hate themselves. And this self-hatred could threaten them.

Take terrorism, for instance. The Islamists blow up a subway in England. And what happens? The mayor of London actually invites the families of the terrorists to the memorial services.

Deep down, a lot of white guys--usually liberals--feel they have it coming to them. If someone decides to blow them up...well, it's their own damn fault.

I find it all awfully strange.

Political correctness annoys me MORE than what it annoys the OP, if that is possible.

Let me give you an example of what happens to PC. My bird-brained sister was always on about PC topics during her time at university. It seems that everyone on campus knew that the purpose of getting a university degree was to improve their earnings potential except her. Well, she took out a whole bunch of student loans and quipped the typical banalites of university students on the typical topics. When it was all over, she ended up working a $9/ hour data entry job. She's bitter at the world for her foolishness.

There are MANY stories like hers. But I can say that someone like that will NEVER be of any influence. And the reaon is because people who have an idea of how things are ACTUALLY DONE and under what constraints will quickly abandon liberalism. (See: "A Conflict of Visions.") People that are blathering on about what is abstractly possible (in a social sense) in some situation will more likely stay/ be liberals.

I'm not sure if you are an American or not, but I want you to take a look at our Supreme Court. It is conservative now, and likely to stay that way for a long time. If someone does us the favor of putting rat poison in Justice Stevens food (at Ann Coulter's suggestion), then the court will be even more solidly conservative. Think about how much PC is at university level, and then compare it to how many such people actually become someone of influence. What is the likelihoood that a black man (Clarence Thomas) could go through years of school and have the ideas that he does AND be elected to the Supreme Court. Ditto for Janice Rogers Brown (another of my favorites).

It's clear from the structure of your argument that you never went to college. Jealous?

Don't conflate PC with liberal. Liberalism is much bigger than PC. I'm a liberal, but very anti PC.

Pretty much, all women are encouraged to hate themselves. Ditto poor people. Ditto rich people. Ditto alcoholics, drug users, addicts of any other kind, and illegal immigrants. Ditto people who don't save a lot of money. Ditto people who save a lot of money. Ditto people with not-new cars, houses, or electronic gear. Ditto the insane, retarded, the old, and many of the married.

Did I leave anyone out?

Oh, and the politicians.

P.s. My opinon: PC is a good idea gone horribly out of control. if you're trying to connect with people, it makes sense to be aware of certain terms likley to offend them.

I should say I agree with the fundamental principle of PC, inclusive non judgemental language. I just think it's gone beyond that into something really silly. Actually it's more than silly, I think it actually now often highlights differences in people. For example, handicapped people are now "differently abled". Gimme a break. The person can't walk, you think they don't know what they are? You think being called differently abled is going to help at all? You think that they are not going to notice that it's a euphenism? You think that is going to make them feel normal? I say if you're disabled, you main chance of happiness in this life is to totally accept that you are disabled, and do your best to then get on with enjoying life as much as you can. Pretending ain't gonna help anyone.

The retarded know that they are retarded. Some of them have a good sense of humor about it, which indicats a higher-ness of some of the retarded.

Aww. Is diddums feeling bad about himself?

Do you spend a lot of time with other demographics Bill? Didn't you spend a couple of years in Korea? Bill, everyone is taught either guilt or shame. It just makes you easier to control.

The only people who don't hate themselves are the true believers, and that's not much to aspire to, is it?
