In case you are need of real live bedsheets, which for me are quite important. You can find them at Save Zone at the Hagy subway stn-olive green line, and only double and king size, and the double is a mattress sheet so you have to cut the corner elastic to get a top flat sheet, but it works well. So well I plan to bring it back to Canada. Cost for double 10,000 won, a deal.

I did see bedsheets at Lotte World and the Hyundai Dept stores for 100,000 and 250,000 won respectively.

Why don't Koreans use bedsheets? These quilts etc are awful.

One of the bigger mysteries of this culture, my man. I'm sure it has something to do with kimchi and fan death.

There is an awesome place for getting bed sheets near Samsung Plaza in Bundang. I can't remember the name of it because I only went there once and that was 6 months ago. I got the 100x200cm sheets for about 25,000won. They are a very nice quality too.

They had all sizes.

If anyone is interested, I'll post the name of the place and directions.

Yes, please. I've never been to Bundang. Now I finally have a reason to go. Do they really have top sheets?

HOmePlus also carries some sheets. The nicer sets are pricey, but they have some house brand fitted sheets for between 20K~40K won.

They don't all sleep on matresses.

Yeah, but I, and most other foreigners here, want flat sheets. I hate those thin pad blanket things.

Yeah some sleep on marble slabs. What's up with that? I slept on one once. It was so uncomfortable.

Hmm... I've always found flat sheets to be pretty much useless. But, I suppose that's just me.

So you just wash your blanket every week or two?? (that's their use... something you can easily wash)

Pretty much. I toss and turn too much so a flat sheet is just one more thing to get tangled up in. Confused

Do you mean a mattress pad or something Korean I don't know about. I have not yet arrived in Korea.

What size should I get for Korean beds?

Regarding flat sheets. Fitted are good if they fit the matress. I learned how to make a bed with flat sheets when I worked as a CNA years ago. Flat sheets can be used on smaller beds while fitted sheets can only be used on beds that are exactly the same size. Cutting a fitted sheet to make a top sheet seems silly to me as they ussually come in a set with a flat sheet to be used as a top for each fitted sheet in the package.

I've read that most Koreans don't have driers. I would think you would have to wash your blankets more often if you don't have sheets. Drying blankets can't be fun.

If you're bringing sheets from the US, I recommend flat sheets, NOT fitted sheets. The two beds I've had here have both been the wrong size for my fitted sheets, and I ended up not using them. Now I use a double flat sheet for a single bed. I fold it in half the long way so I can use one for both a top and bottom sheet. (Unlike krats, I don't move in my sleep at all.)

As for the padded thing that was mentioned, it's kind of a cross between a fitted sheet and a matress pad.

yeah, i was caught off guard by that one two. here's me at the store:

Me: I'd like some sheets for the summer
Lady: Here's a quilt
Me: No, some thin sheets for the summer.
Lady: Here's a thin quilt
Me: I will burn this place down.

The only place I've seen sheets is in the hospital. Sheets like that may seem useless because they're so thin and don't really provide any warmth, but I think they're good for the psychological effect. Sleeping with nothing covering yourself is creepy.
