I've got a old Pentium 3 I'd like to upgrade with a 256MB stick because the microphone function is stuttering.
First of all, will this do the trick?
Secondly, if I were add another stick, then how do I know which one to pick up?
This is the one in the computer:
What should I look for to get a compatible stick? Which numbers should I be concerned with?
Thanks! |

How much RAM is in the machine right now? More RAM may fix the problem, if it doesn't have enough right now. Of course, onboard sound (I assume that is what you have) usually have "noise" when recording, but it shouldn't stutter.
As for the kind of RAM, it's cheap as right now (PC133) and yes, you should look for a reasonable match, though it may be hard to find an exact one. The number you should be concerned with is the M366S3253CTS -C7A.
Good luck. |

I've already got 256MB of RAM in the computer and I'm hoping that adding another would keep the mic from stuttering. It's not the onboard sound problem I'm sure, but I'm also running Utorrents while using MSN. Could it be that maybe I'm overworking the processor? I'm hoping not and adding a $20 upgrade would do the trick.
I checked out Danawa.com and can't find a perfect match to M366S3253CTS -C7A.
I've found:
M390S3320DT1-C7A
M366S3253DTS-C7A
M366S3323BTO-C75
and some 2 or 3 others I can't get numbers for.
It doesn't look like a exact match. Will this be a problem? |

I don't think so. Older computers aren't quite so fussy. I have a P3 800 system that has a mix of RAM; 128MB x 2 and 256 x1. Seems happy enough. If I rewmember correctly, it's all Samsung RAM, PC133, but I don't think thay are all the same in terms of numbering.
Worst situation is a return to Yongsan for an exchange. |

Yeah, well it's a hand-me-down that was the latest on the shelf 4 1/2 years ago. Put another sound card in a few months ago and it's still running strong condsidering it's hardly been ever powered down for the last year and some months. |
