I'm still looking at options in studying Korean in Korea next summer (the last I've told was that Sogang is still my first choice). Because I have family also living in Busan, I'm looking into studying there, too. I haven't found much info here, just this thread. But I did some googling, so now I have some questions.

Anyone studied Korean at the following universities? If so, how were the programs? Compare to the big ones in Seoul, if possible (Sogang, SNU, Yonsei, Ewha, etc.)
Dong-eui University Foreign Language Education Center
Pukyung University Foreign language Education Center
Pusan National University Language Education Center
Silla University Korean Language Institute

The thread I linked above mentions KLIFF, or the "Korean Language Institute for Foreigners". From this thread, one person liked it. Has anyone else attended this program? If so, what did you think of it? How are classes scheduled there?

Thanks,
BP

There is also PS Korean in the PNU area.

I would not suggest studying Korean at PNU. The teachers aren't that good. They teach Korean style= students don't learn a whole lot.

I'd go with PS Korean or KLIFF.

PS Korean? What is that? (Before anyone ask, I've tried searching here, but the search is borked.)

I'm the guy that liked it, so am prejudiced, but if no-one else steps up...

first, for more opinions, go to: http://www.pusanweb.com/forums/index.htm , and type in "KLIFF". You'll get many positive posts about KLIFF, but I admit they are pretty vague about details. Maybe you could post the same question there?

Also, try typing "Korean" and/or the names of the universities you mention also. I don't know if anything useful will come up, but while the forums at pusanweb are not very active they are very reliable about things in Pusan.

If that doesn't help, pm me and I'll tell you what I can. I attended for about 2 years, sometimes 5x a week, so I feel qualified to say again that Jenna is quite simply the best Korean teacher in Korea, but I finished about a year ago and so have no idea of the way her classes are organised these days. They seem quite flexible, changing as students come and go into what is most convenient for everyone, so I'm sure that if you did decide to study there then she could find some arrangement to your liking.

Edit: Oh yeah, pusanweb has a little info about PS as well!

I attended kilff it was a lot of fun. The instructor has good english and some Japanesethe. The classes revolve around Conversation from vocabulary that we learn in class. The class also heavily focuses on conjugation. We usually then practice Korean in class. Its a lot of fun and what I have heard its hell of a lot better then PNU.
