My brother is a korean adoptee living in the states. he is graduating high school this coming year and was thinking about coming to korea for awhile. He obviously does not have a college degree. I have heard that an adoptee can get an E4 visa without a college degree...is this true? I tried doing a search but "E4" doesn't yield any results...I'm assuming because its too short. In any case, would he be able to come to Korea to work by getting an E4...and how does one go about doing it? Thanks... |

The problem is that your looking into the wrong visa.
You should be looking for information on an F-4 visa. This is the visa that applies to him.
Koreans Overseas(F-4)
For those who had Korean nationality in the past, but have lost it by acquiring the nationality of another country
A certificate verifying that the applicant had Korean nationality in the past
ex) A certificate of family registry
Documents verifying the date(month/year) when the applicant acquired the nationality of another country
Documents verifying how the applicant has acquired the nationality of another country
※ Other supplementary documents may be required, if considered needed
For Immediate descendants, with the nationality of another country, of those who had Korean nationality in the past
A certificate verifying that an immediate ascendant had Korean nationality in the past
Documents verifying the date(month/year) when the applicant and his/her immediate ascendants acquired the nationality of another country
A certificate verifying immediate family relations
※ Other supplementary documents may be required, if considered needed |

For a guy fresh out of high school, he must be a prodigy to be going after the visa that they give to aviation and defence consultants from Boeing and Northrop Grumman.
However, if your friend is a Korean adoptee and does not know his original Korean family and/or his name is not on their 'hojok' (family registry), then he should apply for either an F1 or F4 visa. Korean adoptees that cannot prove documented Korean lineage can get a confirmation letter from the adoption agency in absence of the Korean family registry. |

I have heard you need to be at least to be 21 to be issued an F4 visa. |

F4, F4, sorry. Yes my brother is a Korean adoptee. E4 private consultant is not what I want. What if my brother's name *is* in the family book? He was here last year and met his foster mother but we decided against meeting the natural parents. I'm sure we can get ahold of his adoption file which should be a good start regardless of whether or not he's in the book.
As for jobs after getting an F4, what are the options? |

All options are on the table for an F4 or F5.
Search the net (maybe in Korean as well). I belive there are a number of (occasionally gov sanctioned) organizations that help F4s out here in Korea.
Good luck to your Bro. |
