Hi, my contract expires at the end of the month..However, my boss insists on work up to the very last minute. Does anyone know the legalities of overstaying the visa(e2)? Does anyone have contact info for the immigration office? Thanks |

You have until midnight on the last day indicated on your ARC to be OUT OF THE COUNTRY or have an extension placed on your ARC by imigration..
http://www.immigration.go.kr/HP/IMM80/imm80_m_spl/imm80_main_1030.jsp
If you are in the country AFTER your expiry you:
a) will have a black mark placed in your immigration file that may affect future visas.
b) will be delayed at the airport on departure.
c) may be fined up to 100k won
d) will be placed in detention until the fine is paid.
To get an extension, take your departing air ticket, ARC and passport to the immigration office and they will extend you up to 10 days until the time of your ticket for free.
NOTE: no airticket = no extension.
For immigration office numbers, click the link below then click the link on the RIGHT side of the page that says, "Immigration Branch offices and Jurisdiction".
