I ended up with a few simple misdemenors while in college, under age possession of alchohol, Public Intox and disorderly conduct. All seperate occasions and really tame considering the rugby team I played with.

Does this prohibit me from going overseas to korea to teach? Nothing serious but its still a police record.

I cant find anything about it on the web.

Good question....do they even do criminal checks? I have a friend who is sex offender, complete crap charge, who gets out in a couple of years. He'd be interested in coming over.

Yikes....I say again, Yikes! Hmmm...do we want an "innocent" sex offender in Korea teaching young girls and boys. I think the answer is "no". Legally shouldn't he not be able to travel at will unless he doesn't get parole and does the whole time (not getting parole means they think you are really dangerous).

If you were going to certain countries like Saudi Arabia, it would be a problem if you have a alcohol related misdemeanor. I do not know about Japan and China, but in Korea they do not investigate this. What about felons who come to Korea to teach?

Nope, you can be Jeffrey Dahmer and they'd let you teach.

Sure, just post his pic here, and in a couple of years, his arrival date. Someone in a nice blue uniform will meet him at the gate...
