I just got to seoul and tried using my citibank debit card at several ATMs (two citibank atms and one that had the logos on the back of my atm) and none of the machines accepted the card. has anyone else had this problem? if so, can you recommend an ATM? Thanks! |

Many of the machines don't work well. When I got here I realied on my foreign ATM cards 100% and I was let down frequently. The sticker says VISA but the too frequent error messages say no. The international machines in Iteawon work well. You should come here and load up.
The international machines are few in number and they don't well. Thats the fact, jack. |

Try a KB bank ATM. I have the same problem as you, but usually their ATMs work well for me. |

Did you let your bank know that you're traveling overseas? Sometimes they block international withdrawls to prevent fraud. |

What's your PIN? Certain numbers are blocked here.

Yep, I had the same problem with my visa debit card when I first came to Korea. Your best bet is the Seoul subway ATM's (but not all of them work with foreign cards...The one in Itaewon has always worked for me), as well as the KEB banks international ATM's...if they're still in business... |

Big ups to everyone who replied. I have to admit I was starting to freak out a little. I did let my bank know I would be abroad so that shouldn't be the problem. I will attempt to use a KB or a subway ATM today. Cheers!!! |

THIS IS THE POST TO PAY ATTENTION TO,
an american friend just came to visit and was having the same problem with his citibank card, we tried all sorts of different ATMS: KB, subway, local, global etc. The only ONE ATM that worked was a CITIBANK ATM at an actual CITIBANK branch.
good luck |

That aint real, Neal. There aren't any Seoul subway stations in Wonju nor in many other places. There are far fewer international machines than local machines. |

outside Seoul?? Well, christ, I don't think they even accept money outside of Seoul. You're better off exchanging your cash for shiny beads.

what about those "Nice" brand cash machines for Visa. do they charge more of a service fee that will get applied to your credit card account back home, than say banks like KEB, KB etc.???
i know back home, those private machines charge like double the service fees |
