Hi - Taking a poll for my own information - Trying to decide on moving to S Korea to teach and looking for a good place to go... Would like a city type environment with bars and such (Im a musician as well so if there any place to play) but probably smaller than Seoul - also would like to be in a culturally significant area - historic monuments etc, I've done my own research but I don't know enough about the area to get far - Busan looks pretty good - So if people wouldn't mind giving a newby their own ops on where and what they like I'd appreciate it and dont answer for what you think I'll like - answer for yourselves why you like the place - Thanks in Advance Very Happy

If you're coming here and music is important to you, Seoul is 15X better than any other city. I do know a lot of musicians in Cheongju though, but it's neither historical nor convenient.

Suwon. It's part of the Seoul metro area but it's a city of a million people in its own right, and the historic Hwaseong Fortress snakes through the center of it. It's far enough away from Seoul to have its own character but close enough to be a short-ish subway ride when you need access to more urban amenities.

Thank you both for your answer... Suwon sound good... Thanks for letting me know about the music scene as well - hey so do they like hearing white americans play or will I get thrown off stage...

Busan would fit your needs but the music scene is indeed much more active in Seoul.
