Hi,
I just purchased an hdtv with the world cup on my mind (and for xbox 360 games). I am just wondering if anyone here has subscribed to the skylife HD channel that is advertised on the skylife website, and what your opinion of it is? It appears that a box has to be purchased for about 500 dollars... is that so? Do you substitute/trade in your first skylife box for that one? If anyone can help me out, I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

Don't know, but I'd check on auction.co.kr and gmarket. I got my dish there for far less than it should have been. I got a deal on the full package, too. If you need an extra box, it probably would be far cheaper if you get it there.

I am also curious -- my 42 incher is on the way. I checked on Gmarket and the LG Skylife HD kit still goes for about 500 bucks. Still, it may be worth it...

I also noticed that the price of the monthly skylife service is pretty high if you don't sign a 3 year contract. Does anyone know what the penalties are for breaking the contract? I may not have to do it -- but I'd like to know what I'm getting into.

I inquired about Skylife and decided not to. I found out that you HAVE to buy THEIR HD decoder even if you already have one, and it's not cheap at 550,000 won. Plus there's the mandatory period you have to join for and the overall lack of difference in service with digital cable.

I just got Mapo digital cable and the picture and sound are great, the only thing missing is the French channel TV5 (boo hoo). I can also check the weather and traffic through the data service, though I do pay a higher rate than I did in Seodaemun-gu.
