I was offered a third year at my previous school. I declined, thinking I could get better. I was tired of roommates and no raise. Now, I wish I would have stayed because I still have no new job. Have you ever regretted leaving a school? Plus, my boyfriend started seeing someone else 3 months after I left. I think they are having some trouble though. 2006 has been so terrible for me. |

Ill be leaving next year after 2 years with the school. I wonder if Ill feel the same way..... Sometimes I have problems with my students but the teachers and boss are very supportive of me in those situations, and every other aspect of the job is great. Id like to teach a 3rd year in Korea but would like to change schools mostly because Id like to mix it up a little and move into the city. I want to go home for a bit before my next contract anyway, so I wouldnt be staying at my school for a 3rd year as it is. Still.... hopefully no regrets!
Good luck in the job hunt! |

It's always better to make a move is the employment conditions deteriorate or stagnate, which seemed to have been the case with that job. Even if it's a bit tough now, you'll be better off in the end. Just know that you should NEVER attempt to go back to work for them. They'll bend you over every chance they get as you have violated their perception of 'loyalty' (read: didn't keep taking crap). |

Princess, you've been looking for work for months, are you saying that you haven't gotten any offers? What are you doing in terms of a job search? What kinds of offers, if any, have you turned down?
Your job search has been one of the longest I've ever heard of in Korea. |

In terms of the job search, I have used recruiters and I have been applying directly to schools. I actually contacted a recruiter who never even spoke to me. Another recruiter offered me crap positions with 2 different well-known blacklisted schools, even with my experience. I turned down 3 offers in one week that had long hours. One of them had a director who claimed he'd never heard of pension for foreigners. Also, I only want to teach in Seoul, and there are not many ads on here for Seoul positions. Most of them are recruiters and schools in Gyunggi-do. I sent my info to one school that used a wrong email address. I tried twice. I have also been contacted by schools who say they are reviewing resumes, and I never hear from them again. |

Not in the slightest. I'm making more money in my original field and actually acquire a significant amount of respect for the work done. Now, there are friends I miss (Korean and Canadian) but I can afford to fly over once a year. |
