I am looking to buy some jewellery (wedding rings) in Seoul. The metals I am after are gold/white gold or platinum. Any tips on where to go? I recall there was an area around Insadong that had a lot of jewellers, but it struck me as low-end of the market.

The city of Iksan in Jeollabuk-do is famous for jewelry or so I've been told a half dozen times, but I haven't looked myself.

yeah, the jewelry district in jongno. its' nothing but store after store. but be careful, some of the metal isn't high quality the styles are gaudy. i ended up searching around for a reputable jeweler and choosing my platinum wedding band from a catologue and having it made.

Pretty sure that's the area 'near insadong' referred to by the OP. I'm a satisfied customer but I can't remember the store I went to - I got a referral from a co-worker whose in-laws owned a store on that strip.
