Is personal health information somewhat confidential here?

The job I have applied for (and now work at) required a full medical check and I did it. And passed everything. But I am wondering if they have access to all my medical records. Under the school, I am insured. Will they be able to see everything I am doing at the clinic? Are they informed in any way, or is personal health information here confidential?

I guess my question is: If I go to a doctor in Korea, and ask for some kind of prescription, drug, or ask for help with any kind of problem, will my school know about it?

Just wondering. Question

Not sure about the law, but if the doctor or pharmacy knows anyone at your school, the school will find out. There is no such thing as privacy here. So, if you need an anti-depressant or birth control or something else a little private, go to another part of the city, or if you live in a small town, go to another city.

Kat2 is definitely right! I was at the bank the other day and the lady couldn't understand what I was enquiring about. Next thing I knew she was on the phone (I thought she was trying someone in the bank), then she handed me the phone and said someone from your school is on the line to help find out what you want!!!!!!!!!!!!

There is no right to medical privacy. Even if there were, how would you enforce it? Go to a different city. If you can make it to Seoul, go to an International Clinic and don't give your insurance card (if it's really that potentially damaging to your career). There is absolutely no privacy about anything here.

I paid cash at theInternational clinic in Itaewon. It was expensive and inconvenient (I live across town)...but it was confidential. For certain medical issues, I think it's worth it.

When someone has commented on how much toilet paper you use, or where you should have put it (in the basket), then you will know you have no privacy.

Here's a funny story. A friend of mine...sure a friend. Goes to the drug store at the other end of town to get some condoms. There was a pharmacy beneith our school...no way I'm...er my friend was going there.

Next day the boss asked my friend who I'm having sex with. I told him to take a flying f$ck. He wouldn't leave me alone. Blah blah blah...good christians don't have sex before they are married...blah blah blah.

As soon as I told him I was humping another foreigner (lie) he was happy.

If you are in a big city..your boss won't find out stuff about you.

If you are in a small town your boss will have loads of spies. Weither you know it or not everyone in the apt complex knows about the foreigner.

Privacy in Korea? WTF is that?

The correct answer to that is that you...uh, your friend is doing his daughter, and she's not a very good Christian. That will probably shut him up too.
