Remembrance is coming soon. I hope many of you can visit your embassy and pick up a poppy (or two) and wear it in honor of fallen soldiers.

For those of you interested , I found a free printable In Flander's Field
mini-book at the following website: www.dltk-teach.com. I hope to read it to my students on Friday and tell them it's more important than PEPPERO
in the hearts and minds of others.

If you can't find a copy of the In Flander's Field poem , here it is .

In Flander's Field

In Flander's Field the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie,
In Flander's Fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from falling hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep,
though poppies grow
In Flander's Fields.

We can get poppies at our embassies? I brought mine from home and it's at least three years old now.

Time to remember the sacrifices of our forebears and eat Peppero.

Do you have a Hanguel translation?

Damn I'm glad Pepporo Day is on a Saturday. I still have some in my desk from last year.

When I do this poem in my class I find the best way to hook my students is read this part like a zombie.

Combine it with some grunting and moaning and that really gets them into it. They look forward to it every year.

It's a good day to reflect on what soldiers from our countries have done/are doing.. no matter if you support whatever war they're involved in. Take some time to think.. pretty easy when it comes down to it.

I, for one, definitely remember the sacrifice made by those who fought facism around the world in the last century.

Especially those who fought in WWII. They really did save the world from a terrible fate. Bless 'em all.
