I just saw that the new spokesperson for Asiana is a flight attendant that is 166 cm tall and weighs 44 kilos. Now, I'm 167 cm, and if I input my weight into a BMI calculator, the lowest I can weigh (at the very end of the normal scale) is 52 kilos. The calculator I used didn't mention anything about bone structure, either. Now, can someone please explain to me how this girl, weighing 44 kilos, can be healthy? Do you think she has super-metabolism or something? Honestly, if I weighed 44 kilos, my ribs would be jutting out, looking like a skeleton (think of the Olsen twin...). I don't get it, other than that girl has a serious eating disorder. However, she's the spokesperson for Asiana, and I don't think they'd want to use a sick person for their spokesperson, you know? Anyway, how can you be 166 cm and weigh 44 kilos and be healthy? |

You can't be healthy at 166cm and 44kilos. Heck, I'm only 160cm, and the normal weight range for me would be somewhere between 48 kilos(which is pushing it; I've been that, since I have a really fast metabolism), and 55kilos.
That girl must have water for brekki, lunch and dinner.
or:
I have a friend who's about 169 cm and weighed much less than she should because she has health problems (chronic fatigue syndrone, severe food allergies, IBS, but not a eating disorder). It took her years of seeing nutritionists, physicians, trying this diet, trying that diet, having tests galore; to gain weight, and keep it on.
Maybe she has something like that.
Either way, she's one unhealthy chick. |

Damn that is skinny as hell. That is like painfully skinny. The only thing I think of when I see someone that skinny is the sounds of bones breaking when a strong gust of wind hits them. |

im about 170-171cm and i weighed 44.5kg at one point (or rather 5'7" and 98lbs, i was 18~19 yrs old, went up past 100lbs after i turned 20)
i considered myself fairly healthy, never thought there was anything wrong with me (i am considerably fatter now and in a 'healthy' range of weight, age caught up with me) |

Can someone please tell me why western girls who describe their bodies as average always look more on the fat side of things. Maybe the calculator needs some readjusting. |

Don't models and spokesperson types often lie about their height and weight? Maybe she's more dishonest than thin. |

Maybe she's lying. Or maybe she's just thin. 5'5" 100 lbs isn't that unheard of for model types, or for just skinny people. I'm a guy, but when I was in 9th grade I was 5'5" 100 lbs, with lean muscle. When I was a distance runner I was 5'7" 120 lbs (170 cm 55 kg), so if you'd subtract muscle and about 4cm, you'd get 44 kg.
edit: not saying it's necessarily healthy---you can't make a judgement based on numbers---, but just sayin. |

Are you saying that you consider 52kilos fat? |

How about the original poster post a picture and we'll see. If they can pinch an inch, yes? Actually, I'd still like to see a picture of the flight attendent before we declare her too unhealthy. If she looks like most other flight attendents then she looks healthy enough to me. I have yet to see one pass out on a flight or collapse while trying too move the food/drink cart.

I'm about the same as this girl. I guess I'm pretty healthy, but I do feel tired all the time. I can see my ribs, too. |

Well, it's different for guys. I heard Lance Armstrong had only 4 or 6% body fat, and since he's a professional athlete, it'd be pretty difficult to maintain that kind of body type (for average guys). Women naturally have more body fat for childbearing. I remember when I joined Bally's back home, a personal trainer told me 17% body fat for women was the lowest in the normal range, if I remember correctly. Female athletes would have a lower body fat than 17%, but it certainly wouldn't go as low as a guy's. Heh, maybe the Asiana F/A is quite athletic. Anyway, this must be the ideal Korean female body type, since her height and weight are being advertised, if you will.
Since she's only 19, perhaps she's like Peony, and blessed with high metabolism... If you read question #2 on the site, here's the beginning of her answer: I think an Asiana model is the ideal type of all men and the symbol of women who have grace and beauty envied by women.
Judging from that quote, 44 kilos at 166 cm must be the ideal weight then, eh?
