Who among us can write the best reference letter?

I'm applying for a job at a university in Seoul, and my former boss told me it'd be easiest for him if I just wrote my own letter, and he would just sign it.....However, I was wondering if anyone else has had any experience in wording things correctly in a reference letter format...I can do it, but I'd appreciate any pointers...

thanks...

To whom it may concern,

I'm the director of xxx, and employed xxx as an English instructor from xxx to xxx. I found him to be an excellent employee. He was always punctual, conscientious, friendly and hard working. He maintained good relationships with the staff and students. His classes were stimulating and innovative, and he seemed to have a real aptitude for relating to students and making learning fun. He was flexible, reliable, and helpful as an employee, and a very good team player. I very much enjoyed having him as a member of my staff and he will be fondly missed. I would not hesitate to recommend xxx for employment at your institution. If you have any further questions you would like to ask me in person, please call xxx between xxx and xxx. I would be happy to speak to you.

Yours, xxx

Director of xxx

Yeah, Satori's letter, more or less. At my first hogwon, we made a letter and put everyone's name in it as they left.

Reference letters...are...dumb.
Like..um....a person will actually be submitting a bad reference letter? We only submit the good ones! And of course, we'd never ask someone we don't get along with for a letter anyhow.
"Gee....I just walked off my last job and I'm sure the bossman will give me a good reference now?"
Same with names of references....
