Do I need doctor's notes for every medication I bring to Korea?

| i would be careful transporting any controlled substance without a valid prescription. in the united states, a single vicodin or percocet without a script is a felony. |

So, do I need to show them an actual prescription, or just a doc's note?
what about vitamins, herbal pills, etc?
thanks for your response!

| I have no idea about how to bring in prescription drugs legally. I can say that in the dozen times or so I've come into the country, my luggage has only been opened once. |

| Wow! I thought customs checked every bag...but it might be done similar to the US TSA where they randomly put a yellow mark on your ticket, and that's how your bag gets checked. |

| When I go to Guam I buy a large suitcase at Good Will and fill it with groceries. Never been checked. I think you could smuggle a baby elephant through customs without much trouble. I wouldn't try an adult elephant though. |

| I have not had any trouble bringing in multiple bottles of prescription and non-prescription medications. My bags have not been opened on coming to Korea in the past year or so (before that, I just don't know.) I've had a large bottle of Tylenol 3 (with some Lortabs mixed in, on the last trip) in my carry-on and nobody cares. I would certainly keep the prescription meds in their original prescription containers, but I doubt you will have a problem. |

Vicodin and it's related is a Schedule C drug, which basically means in Texas, possession of a small amount without a prescription is not necessarily a felony.. still it's a pain in the ass to be charged with such things. Be careful. |

If you see a doctor here, they will most likely know the generic names, sometimes brand names too. Make sure you have insurance.
If you have to see a specialist in a big hospital, it may get costly! local doctors are cheap though. |
