I'm considering a job offer in Pusan near Ulsan University. The recruiter seemed to talk it up quite a bit about Pusan. I'll be a newbie at teaching and they're offering about 2.2 mil won. So.... does Pusan suck or what? I haven't seen any recent threads.

Busan and Ulsan are two different cities. I've lived in Busan for a long time and have visited Ulsan a couple of times. Busan may not be as fancy as Suh-ool, but it doesn't suck. Just be aware that if you're going to be near Ulsan Uni, you may not be as close to Busan as you think. You may want to verify that with the recruiter. Sounds like you're being sent to Ulsan, not Busan, and Ulsan needs a bit more work before it gets as good as Busan.

Busan (or Pusan which is the old spelling) is great, but Ulsan has a lot to be desired from what I hear. Ulsan is about an hour(maybe a bit more) from Busan. All shipping for hte most part. If you are prepared for a smaller, mor Korean town, then considerate it. If your recruiter is telling you that Ulsan is in Busan, they are desperate for you to sign. Keep looking.

Yes, Ulsan and Busan are not even close to the same place. Ulsan is about 45min to an hour north via bus/taxi etc.

I've lived in both. I much prefer Busan. But some people like Ulsan, so I'm not going to recommend either place. If you're going to be in Ulsan, near the University is the probably the best place (where most waygooks are).

TALK TO SOME TEACHERS THAT WORK THERE NOW!!!!
