one of my good friends is in this movie, It was shot in his bar back in 2002
The Loft.. The director shot it on Video, but its a feature,
its weird but still I think everyone can relate to it...
watch the preview..
hahahahahaa dont know when its gonna be made available.
still good on sebastian woolf for actually getting off his arse and making a movie, I have seen threads on here for years people trying to get off their arses and make something, best they ever got was a sit down at burger king on a hangovers!
anyway its not the best movie, but still its a feature

Korea.
SYNOPSIS

Patrick, a young American college grad, journeys to Seoul, South Korea to teach English. Jeff, a friend-of-a-friend, puts him up in his filthy, little apartment and finds him a job teaching Yoon Hee, a university student from a prosperous family. There is an easy chemistry between them, and they soon fall in love.

Soon after, Patrick discovers Seoul's night life. He is enticed by the seemingly endless possibilities and eventually loses control. Sex and drugs begin to consume him, and he is robbed of all his money.

Yoon Hee becomes pregnant. Patrick suggests an abortion. She is horrified and breaks up with him. Her father finds out, charges Patrick with rape, and sends Yoon Hee to an obscure village.

Patrick realizes that he has made a terrible mistake. He must win Yoon Hee back and flee the country with her before its too late. But first, he has to recover his money from Klaus to pay for their flight to America. Desperate situations require desperate actions. In a world without rules, Patrick must make his own.

I agree it is a great achievement what he accomplished. I certainly respect him for that.

Ive made a lot of short amateur films in Korea and it is almost impossible to get enough actors, camera people, etcjust to commit time and effort to a small project. He must have went through a hard time filming and editing the movie especially when there is little or no support(in my experience) from the locals or even the expat community.

Anyway it's an achievement what he did but it looks crap though

Has anyone seen the one made in Japan about English teachers?
I've never seen it but friends have said that it's pretty funny.

I don't remember the name, unfortunately. An English teacher from the U.K. made the film. It's shown in some of the ex-pat pubs in Tokyo.

Anyone know this movie?

This is terrible depiction of the subject "teaching English in Korea". Makes us all look bad. The movie needs to have a more positive story line or at least a fuller picture. Producers focused too much on the negative dark side of things. While there are plenty of illegal drugs, sex, and partying in Korea just as in most other countries, not all of us are going for that. While some young English teachers fresh out of college are out of control due to lack of experience and lacking maturity out of still being mentally a teenager, lack of responsibility just the same as in the US Army. Some of us are serious minded with good intentions and practice responsibility such as avoiding over drinking, bar fighting, creating unwanted babies, and downright being rude as hell. I observed all this behavior while serving in the US Army in Germany and was so deeply turned off by my peers that I just stayed to myself and had a great time traveling alone on my off time. I could not bring my anyone along on my trips off base throughout Europe, becuase these young guys would embarrass the daylights out of me when I did go out to drink with them. Anyhow, many young guys are irresponsible idiots due to not being experienced with life or just plain dumb and obsessively full of cum like the dude in the movie. This is why I require single housing...

I'm not exactly sure why people get all in a huf when they read a synopisis and see a trailer. I'm guessing it's a coming of age story which are very hard to execute, but has the ablity to transend the small world of the film to something we all can relate to. As far as the production value it looks good, (granted it's video but I think we can all agree that the prominance of K-dramas have allowed it to become a ligitmate medium for the narrative story.) It looks like it was competently done, it's definitely unique with the presenting situation of an english teacher in korea. That alone will create interest for most people involved in EFL teaching. I'm interested, even with the ambiguous trailer. Hopefully it's a good film.

Itawon, do you know the director? Is this planned to do a festival run?

A bit disappointing, watching the trailer. A movie about an English teacher in Korea should be a comedy, not some sex and drugs romp. I never hear about drugs here. Never. But comedy? All the effin time.
