I've done a bit of time couch surfing in my time. It's definitely good for some fun and stories and I can imagine it would be an interesting way to travel. Don't know how long I could do it for though. The longest I lasted was a 3 month stint and after being one of the last to sleep and the first to wake up in households/squats, full of people up for day in day out partying I was more than appreciative of my own space... Good times.

Fun way to travel and meet the artsy types.
Hard to have sex unless its with the person who's giving you the couch.

My friend used that site while traveling thru Japan and ended up with a half naked (bottom half) Japanese girl wrapped around spooning. Unfortunately my friend was a girl. The girl didn't speak at all, just stared, and her apartment was so full of books that my friend had to step on them to walk around. To top it all off they could only communicate in Italian. Becuz of that first night my friend made an excuse as to why she couldn't stay longer, left, and spent the night in a hotel.
