i couldn't find the answer - are there serious consequences for breaking a one year contract IF you already have an f-4 visa?
I know that if a school sponsers your visa, then that can be a problem, but what if you came on your own?
And further, is teaching privates allowed on an f-4?
If anyone can provide answers first and then flame me for being a newbie, that would be spectacular.
thanks |

Spectacular, huh?
I'm sure immigration will have nothing to do with you, but hagwon owner will have option to file a law suit against you for breach of contract or to confine you in the dungeon (basement of the school) and lock you up forever until you rot.
As for the privates, do as you wish.
Pretty spectacular, huh? |

The advantage with having an F-4 visa is you can work both full or part-time. Most opt for part-time positions (in companies for example) because it offers more flexibility and the pay per hour is higher than most f/t positions.
It depends what you mean by "serious consequences?" Since the F-4 visa basically allows you the same benefits and disadvantages a Korean employee gets then if you break a contract you will be subject to the same penalties. Therefore there are no consequences to your visa.
If you're asking if they can stop you from getting another job here on top of the discrimination you have to face then the answer is a definite no. |

Privates? Ask you self this question....
Illegal income and tax evasion, is that legal back home? Why would it be here?
You can get a tutoring licence, but you'll also have to pay taxes.
As for the breach of contract thing. Give them the notice stated in your contract and they can do nothing.
It's pretty much the same for F-2 holders. |

If the your school has been screwing you and that's the reason for OP wanting to leave the school, don't even bother giving them notice of any sort. They don't deserve one. All it's going to do is provide the school with an opportunity to screw the OP on his final pay. |
