| Have any of you taken this course or know anyone who has done it? It seems like a good excuse to hang out in Thailand to me. |

The CELTA is not a good hangout kind of thing. Most people go absolutely crazy. Even people with experience who go into it find it stressful enough there is not a lot of time for fun. If you plan before and after, that's ok. But I wouldn't suggest having too much fun during it, though you might be able to, don't plan on it. |

I know it will be a ton of work but I meant it's a good excuse to go to Thailand and have a week or two before and after the course to travel around Thailand, I just didn't manage to write that in my post. I had said that in my head but managed to forget to put that in the post...woops  |

I did my CELTA throgh IH Bangkok, but since it's so structured and assessed externally I'm sure many are simliar. You will work quite a bit for it, especially during week 2 and 3. Honestly, week 3 was by far the busiset for my training group.
Having said that, the weekend after week 1 wasn't that bad and I managed to have a good time. Same for some of the weeknights during week 4. At that point you're done with assignments so your time frees up a little. I'm not saying that you will have a lot of time, but yeah there is a little bit for sure. |
