Looking to buy a phone for between 30K - 60K. Doesn't need to be the best, but I am looking to obtain value for taking it over.
Email me at [email protected] if you have anything. |

I was looking for an inexpensive mobile a short while ago......
While passing through Nambu Terminal (on Line 3), we saw an LG phone shop with a special deal on handphone's. 40,ooo won (10 for the new handset, 30 for the number).
It is a contract phone, taken out by my Korean wife.
If you have a Korean spouse/friend or ARC/passport, there are so many good deals out their. It is hardly worth going for second hand, unless a give-away.
Korean auction websites are so very cheap also, but you need to be Korean to navigate them?

Hi Ken:
I can vouch for your views. It's true, you can get some fantastic deals out there. If you have a Korean friend (preferably one with whom you've built trust), then foreigners can get some amazing deals.
I had my Korean friend register my phone under her name. Brand new phone, excellent services, and only 32,900W. I had to buy the charger separately, but it was about 12,000W extra.
It's a contract type deal, where I pay 16,000W per month for the service, and then get charged anywhere from 9W to 15W for every 10 seconds. Most used card phones charge you about 30W for every 10 seconds.
The contract I'm on isn't for a year, as I can cancel it anytime after three months of using the service. It's nice not to be locked in.
My favourite site for cell phone shopping is Danawa's Open Market.
http://market.danawa.com/
Type in 핸드폰
Next, look through the listings and find the listings that have this:
신규
Those are the phones that you can buy without having to trade another one in.
You'll find all kinds of good deals. Some only your Korean friends can get, others you'll be able to get with their help.
Happy Hand Phone Hunting.

Excellent,
Thanks very much for your suggestions. I had a feeling that finding a Korean friend to help would be the way to go, but I thought it helpful to review the options.
SeoulnPepe - Which carrier are you with (KTF, SK etc..)? I presume that most people opt to go on a contract, but for an Australian like me there's not always the same objection to a pre-pay option (unless, of course it is too much trouble and doesn't work out financially).
Ken - Thanks also for your input. I may be able to sort something out soon and understand that many phones these days have a dual Korean / English menu option.
Cheers,
J |
