| Have to start thinking about my christmas dinner, and dammit, I really want lamb. Mutton would be good too.... Anyone know of a place that regularily stocks any cut of the aforementioned beastie? I would have to travel 1+ hours to get there.... |

| If you can find an Asia mart they usually sell it, frozen chunks, 2kgs for 10-12 000 won. Best bet is to find out where the 3D workers are and ask them. |

| Workers from mainly SE and South Asian countries who work in factories. The 3D stands for something like dirty, dangerous and difficult, ie the jobs no Koreans really want. |

I'd recommend going to Seomun Market and find the area with their butcher shops and ask for lamb.

Lamb for Christmas? That must be a Down Under thing.
Slaughter the lamb to celebrate the birth of god. Only in religion!
A latent form of animal sacrifice perhaps. |

Down under? Nope. Just love the taste, but it's a pain to find and prepare. I don't "do" christmas either as I'm not a christian. But havintg a special meal on that day is a holdover from my families tradition.
I suppose though if I was to go there and find it, I would likely grab up 10 or 15 kilos of the stuff for my freezer. |

| If you go to Buk Bu bus terminal in Daegu, there are several shops catering to Pakistani/Bangladeshi/Indonesian workers. I buy frozen lamb at Ace Mart, which is on your right side as you walk from the terminal to the main street. If you need cheap international phone cards or Mongolian vodka, you can get those things too. |

Great, thank you. I do know buk bu bus terminal.
At the risk of being a pain, do they offer different cuts, or is it just "chunks"? And....frozen is fine, fresh is better. Do the shops that cater to Bang/Pak/Ind workers sell only frozan, or can fresh be had?
My mouth is watering, and a dozen recipes are flitting through my head. |

I buy chunks, but they may have some other cuts. From time to time I see shanks. They also have boneless and with bones.
I haven't seen fresh lamb at these places, but you could ask the Indonesian customers if they know of a butcher who sells fresh. Ace and the other shops also sell a large selection of spices that you can use with the lamb. I like the ABC sweet soy sauce from Indonesia.
Enjoy! |
