i'll be making thanksgiving dinner on saturday, cuz i just won't have the time tomorrow.

but Thursday is the real thing!! i'm in the boonies, so there's no thanksgiving buffets or dinners on offer at any restaurants. (my boyfriend is from the UK, so he doesn't understand the importance. he thinks of it as just a Sunday roast on a thursday. which in some ways i guess it is.) maybe i'll have daejigalbi and pretend it's got wings and has been in an oven and has stuffing. and i'll convince myself that the side dishes are cranberry sauce, pumpkin pie, lumpy mash, pecan pie, and ...

i haven't been to the USA for thanksgiving since 2000... but i've usually been in big cities that have buffets! or had contracts where i could take thanksgiving off! or had american friends in the same town.

just thought i'd post to help myself feel better. (at least i'm not at home dealing with awkward silences, that alcoholic relative, that b-itchy old aunt, that cousin who's constantly stoned, one or two fights, passive-agressive stepmothers, etc. ah, thanksgiving!)

Get yourself one of those rice stuffed rotisserie chickens for dinner and make a side of mashed potatoes. Its not a turkey dinner, but its as close as you can get for an easy meal on Thursday night.

I'm also in the boonies and my local grocery store (Deca Mart) has turkey legs...near the cheese and butter. Take a look in your grocery stores.

And you can make dressing/stuffing on the stove top if you don't have an oven. Sage is important, but you can probably do without it.
