I live just a little south around Guro and it's one of the cheaper places to look in Seoul. |

I stay by right by Guro Station and while it is cheap here, there is noting to do in this area (Sindorim included), unless I am missing something? |

You're right, there isn't exactly much worth doing. But it's still subway convenient, and stuff to do wasn't the OP's question. |

So there are like no cool bars in the area at all? My hopes and dreams for Guro have been well and truly shattered if that is the case then... |

I personally don't care where I'm drinking. There are tons of very Korean bars and restaurants around everywhere. My neighbourhood in particular is piled with chicken restaurants and barbecue places. It's fine as long as you bring your own friends. |

Thanks for the replies.
I have no idea where to start looking. Are there any internet realestate sites in English? |

Best bet would be to hit up the bu dong sans in the area and see what they have to offer. Cool thing is that those places are open on Sundays so you can do it hungover. |

i live in yeongdeungpo (which is very near to sindorim) and its not too bad here. the area in general has a reputation as being scummy but as far as i'm concerned that means i get to live in a bigger place and at a lower price.
as the other poster said, go to budongsans around the area you want to live in. take along a korean friend (preferably an ajosshi) to make sure you don't get screwed. don't bother with anyone 'serving the foreign community' or any crap like that, since its entirely logical that those guys would try to rip you off. just go direct to the area, take a korean friend, and negotiate directly.
as for fun... if you live a real ex-pat life, then you might not enjoy it. this area is really 100% old school korea in my opinion. i quite like that, but if you want to see western faces, foods and bars, then you might want to think twice. however you'll still be fairly near hongdae and itaewon if you need them. |

Good point. I like my area because it's so distinctly non-western. |
