Currently, I work in the GEPIK program. I'm level 1 (2.3 Mill. Won) I have a 100+ hr TEFL and 5 years experience.
Next year, I want to remain in Korea, in a public school. Problem is, as far as I can ascertain, GEPIK won't pay more than 2.3. I like my school, and the area, but feel that my experience deserves a raise. Moving to another town or area, is no problem for the right job.
I'd appreciate any advice from those in other Korean public school programs

Can you negotiate something extra with your school? If your school values you I'm sure they would be able to come up with an extra .1 or .2 a month, or could just deposit something in your acount for doing some 'camp' classes or something like that.

Doesnt GEPI have the same levels as EPIK? In EPIK, if you stay in teh BOE for two years after attaining level one, you become a 1+. Thats 2.5 plus rural bonuses.... You should ask about that...

The problem is that individual schools aren't in a position to negotiate the contract terms under the GEPIK program. The schools have to undergo annual audits; there is no room for under the table pay rises unless the principal doesn't care about the possible repercussions.

Thats what I thought Gwangjuboy.
Last week my school had its annual audit by the GyeongiDo authorities. One of its major resulting queries was why during winter camp I only teach 20 classes, instead of the contractually stipulated 22!!!!!!!!!!!!!
