I am new to Byeongjeom and not really sure where to start looking for the other foreigners. Haha. Anyone know where they gather here? Are there others?

Hey there!

There are a bunch of us that live in Byeongjeom....all in the same apartment building.

We live about 4 minutes from the station.

I am very close to the subway station too... maybe a 5 min walk. So what does everyone do for fun here?

Hello Canadagirl!

There are two other single white females in Byengjeom, and I am one of them...watch out for the drunks! Unfortunately, the answer to "What is there to do?" is "Not much." Aside from Dunkin Donuts and Baskin Robbins, there are no coffeehouses or Western-style food outlets. For those, you have to go two subway stops to Suwon.

It is about 60min-90 min to get to Seoul from here, but it is well worth it on the weekends. Suwon station also has trains.

You may PM me if you want to meet. I have only been here six weeks, but I know Seoul and parts of Suwon quite well from my last stay in Korea. Byeongjeom is a bit boring, but the "natives" are friendly enough.

Moby Dick - When Ishmael is forced to share his bed at the inn with a heavily-tatooed cannibal harpooner named Queequeg, he thinks about this. The scene is very funny, as the cannibal's behavior is very odd, and Ishmael is trying to be open-minded...

I remind myself of this quote everytime I get flustered by Korean culture...

Yes, that would be Chewy and I. We are neither cannibals nor Christians so I I have no idea how we fit in to your dicotomy. And I have no idea what its like to sleep with Chewy, the slippery menace. He likes to make innapropriate eye contact whilst petting his marmoset.

Lovely man, though, with one of the best cellars in Asia.

PM me if you want to hang out. Although after this post, I won't blame you if you don't. Hahaha.

You know me already. We work together! I know "Chewy," but I can't say I have slept with him... See my earlier post, do the math, and you will know who I am...

P.S. I was talking about the "native" drunks... Wink

There are a couple more bars near Byeongjeom Station I want to try. I liked 소주King맥주Queen when I went there last week.

By the way, I recommend taking a day trip to the arboretum in front of Osan University Station. Well kept secret, and it's just 10 minutes away from you.
