do you need prescriptions to buy medicines here? over-the-counter stuff like aspirins, digestive tabs and vitamins.
friend of mine went to buy some vitamins tabs and an inhaler in a drugstore near our house and the store guy said that she had to get a prescription from a doctor...to buy vitamins! |

| Depends on the vitamins. They are ungodly expensive too. Try to find some cheap on the blackmarket or at Costco. Jar of multivitamins at E-Mart 50,000. At Costco 15,000. Black Market 10,000. |

You can get Tylenol and other pain killers but at lot of places will sell you a pack of 8 pills for 2,000. A bit expensive. Also a lot of pharmacies will only sell you 1 pack at a time. Good for about half a day! There is PMS medicien, but I can't remember the name. If you aren't embarrassed, find a female pharamacist and start miming.
I recently bougt a bottle of 300 aspirin for 11,000 on the blackmarket near my house. Keep your eyes open.
In genreal a lot of stuff is over the counter here. Just go in and start miming. |

| You can buy Bayer Aspirin, Tylenol, and Tylenol ER over-the-counter w/o prescription. You can buy Advil at the black/grey markets, particularly the underground import markets of Namdaemun, which usually carry a good selection of imported OTC drugs. |

I have found that depending on the pharmacy I walk into- the workers will sell me something that is usually prescription only. For example, I needed some skin cram for eczema and they had no problem selling it to me. There have been a couple of other occassions like that too.
You can purchase asprin for ONLY 500 won!!!!! You only get 10 tabllets though. |

Asprin 10 tabs for 500 won (50 cents) here or bring a 500 tab bottle from home for $5. Same for tylenol (brand name or generic).
OTC cold meds, about the same as home (24 tabs/caps for ~$5.)
Bring your vitimins from home. Here you pay 5x more for multi vitamins and 10x for individual stuff. |
