I've not been to Seoul in a long time, and only twice before in the 1.5 years I have been here. Those two times I was led around like a puppy by some women so I didn't pay much attention to where I was going.
I am planning on a trip to visit the Korean Weightlifting Federation's training facility at the Taereung National Training Center, in a remote area north of the Olympic Park. And at the same time check out some of the facilities used for the 1988 Olympic Games.
BTW anybody ever been to the training center, perhaps for TaeKwonDo? I assume some kind of clearance may be necessary. I do have an invite by one of the national coaches but I should probably get him to fax something.
Is Seoul Station the place where the KTX train from Busan arrives (see picture)? I am trying to plan where I am going to go. It will be sometime in December once the national team is finished with the Asian Games competition and have a more relaxed atmosphere.
Are there some decent things to do in Jamsil? I see that Lotte World is in that same area, but I assume that in late December or January it will be closed. Technomart is nearby, I suppose that could be quite interesting for an electronics fanatic like myself.

Hey there -
I live in Sincheon, which is in Jamsil-dong, one stop away away from Jamsil station.
The biggest things to do around here are:
- Lotte World (if you're into that kind of thing)
- Lotte Mart and the surrounding shopping areas
- Technomart (as you mentioned)
- COEX mall is close as well. Inside is a Megabox Cinema, an aquarium, lots of shopping and restaurants, a kimchi museum, etc.
- You're close enough to Gangnam for the night scene there and some decent upscale restaurants and shopping.
- Sometimes there are events at Olympic Stadium worth going to.
- We are also close to the Sports Complex station where I've watched a basketball game or two.
Not sure what else off-hand but if I think of anything else I'll be sure to add it |

| I'm close by there as well (SungNam) and usually when I'm looking for interesting shopping I head up to NamDaeMun, or Myundong, or DongDaeMun. Technomart, Co-ex and Lotte-World are very generic. You could find them pretty much anywhere in the world, IMHO. Where as those three places are a bit of a ride (30 minutes by subway) but have a very Korean atmosphere. |

| Dayeon, huh? That's where I live right now. Thanks for the input about shopping. I do like to see areas that are distinctly Korean, versus some place that looks like everywhere else. For the purposes of my trip, the shopping and sightseeing are secondary to the main reason I am there so I probably won't stray too far. |
