I may be moving to Asan and was wondering if any universities in Asan offer Korean classes for foreigners?
Thanks |

JZ,
Following your move to Hoseo, I assume you mean part-time language learning...that said, here's what is/was offered 10 minutes ride any whichway you live (by car/bike)-
Soonchunhyang Univ. had crappy Korean lessons (catered to the international students). Now that the department is growing, maybe the quality in coursework followed. (Edge of Asan and Do-go)
Ajuma?
Nazarth Univ. had some intensive a few years back...so so, but, again, part time. (Across from what was Carrefour)
I am not sure of their current schedule, but when I went there they were full-time (2003)...maybe something new has come about so try Sunmoon Univ. (Cheonan campus not Asan <which would be 5 minutes to Hoseo>).
Any help?
shoosh,
Ryst |

Thanks for the information. I know where Soonchunhyang is. I have been on that campus. I am currently living in Yesan.
Do you currently live in Asan? |

That is a little far away. I think that the Cheonan campus of Hoseo has Korean classes. |

Just FYI, the Cheonan campus of Sunmoon is NOT in downtown. If you were to take highway 21 to Carrefour you'd hang a right. When the road "T's" take a right and the campus will be but 100 metres on the right. Traffic wise, you would probably save much headache and time compared to that hussle-and-bussle.
Do I live in Asan?
No, I am Stateside with my wife getting our advanced degrees. However, I lived in Asan for 5 years and have land in Asan and elsewhere. If we return we'll build our house house there.
shoosh,

Ryst (and all):
Yes, the Korean classes have improved a lot, but the problem is that they're offered when most teachers are in class (mornings). We're trying to get them to offer some evening classes, but right now, they're short on teachers due to the increased number of Chinese students.
Hey Ryst! Heard you're coming back to the big K! Not to SCH, right?? |
