So there was a nice letter I was shown about the public school education vacation allotment. It was rather well written to my surprise. Well I have in the contract 14 days vacation. Unfortunately it turns out that by the time my camps and vacation ends I have to come to school and sit on my ass for 3 weeks doing nothing. I politely asked if I could get 3 extra days which I would trade some pay for, so I can see my parents finally (two years).
Nope because the contract IS the law. Yeah Yeah I know its a contract blah blah, what pisses me off is that this letter had the audacity of telling me I should ask my principal of when and where I am going. What I do on my own time IS NONE OF YOUR fracking business. Prolly the epikers have seen this letter and thought what a bunch bureaucratic bullshit. Favours go both ways tho, I am already doing them favours I guess they could always stop when I get sick of doing them.
Any who I am slightly disappointed cause lots of the guys in the same city are getting an extra week off. Oh well, maybe I will resign once my contract is up just so I get a free ticket and 2 extra weeks of holidays and quit 6 months after. |

yup,
It's about this time of year when these sort of complaints start cropping up. Some teacher will come and rub your nose in it that they got all this extra time off, but chances are they don't teach in Gyeonggi/Seoul.
But yes, this does suck and is part of the reason I'm not staying in Korea. |

Actually, I teach in Gyeonggi and am getting 5 weeks off just for Christmas. But, I know I am not normal, and made a thread about just this same thing |
