Has anyone read the article in the magazine? I think it's terribly over generalising and making rash comments, even though what it says is undoubtedly true in some cases. It's a shame that Korean teenagers end up reading this kind of drizzle.

I have a middle school student who reads the Teen Times. Every day now she comes to me with celebrity gossip--the sordid details of Britney's divorce, who Paris Hilton is sleeping with, and so on.

What is that, and why is "2005" in the homepage url? Is that the "Teen Times" the OP is talking about? Why no links?

And did you see the big news??!??!!! "Snoop Dogg Arrested Again!"

Why is it "just men" who cheat? Men have to have women to cheat with...yes?....so it stands to reason that just as many women are also cheating.

Not necessarily. There are other objects of desire. Take a look at your avatar, for example.

People who are taken, unavailable, attached, out of reach- married- are often more appealing than those who are single and available. As Wesley Snipes said..the way to get lots of girlfriends is to get married.

My guess- could be wrong- is that cheating is commonplace in Korea because people seem to marry for reasons other than compatibility: they either follow their parents choice, or they marry for money or because they're afraid of being single. On the other hand, westerners totally rely on feelings in relationships I think and cheat more easily once the whole sexual attraction thing dies down. Which is also wrong. Just my thoughts...

Apologies for no links - I was reading the actual copy of the newspaper which is put on my desk when it arrives at the school. JongnoGuru - yes, that is the right link.

As one of my co-teachers explained: "It will help you to understand Korean culture". Frankly, if the newspaper represents Korean culture, it would be somewhat concerning. To me, it seems too much like a Korean attempt to replicate Western culture. The article about "What do to about North Korea?" is interesting in that it says that after attempting dialogue Koreans should just leave it to America to sort it out!

Well to some degree, but that`s not exactly perfect math, because the man, who is attached, could be cheating with a single woman, so he`s cheating but she`s not. I agree that men cheat more than women, but women cheat a fair bit too.

I think I have found the definitive answer to this question:

(This is supposed to be a direct quote from an overheard phone conversation.)

NJ mom on cell with son #1: Anthony! Anthony, It's Mamma. Stop crying right now. It's okay, honey. It's going to stop hurting in two minutes. Jesus, with the sobbing already! Put your brother on.

NJ mom on cell with son #2: I want you to stop doing that thing to your brother. If you make him cry again I'm going to make you cry. Do you hear me? Don't play stupid with me. I get enough of that from it your father. What? Put him on... Stop laughing... Put Daddy on the phone or so help me Jesus...

NJ mom on phone with the father: Jerkoff, what the **** is going on over there? I leave the house for five goddamn minutes and you are all flicking each other's balls again... Stop ****ing laughing. You are going to make them retarded or gay

hahahha. I'm surprised someone made a thread about this.

I teach a class 4 days a week that uses Teen Times as its source of conversation.

The author "Joseph Chan" is a pain in the "behind". In last week's Teen Times, he had the same article but about women. If you trace back the past 5 Teen Times, he talks about relationships and depressing crap. Check out the first one and you will find out that his lady dumped him (yes, he does say it). See a pattern here? His lady dumps him, he writes and article in the Teen Times about it, a week later he writes about how angry he is, two weeks later he writes an aritcle about women cheating in a relationship, etc. LOL. This guy is comical. Even my students picked up on it.

Cubanlord - thanks for that, I imagined that something like that was going on. Time to get rid of Mr Chan, I think.

If you've seen the show "Cheaters" before, that might offer some answers. A lot of couples aren't so happy together.
