suddenly, i can't open internet explorer the normal way.... just double-clicking on the icon. a window will open for a split second, and then close again for no reason.
the only way i can get around it is to click on the 'my computer' icon, and type in a url from that window. after that, it seems to work just fine.
i guess it's not a huge inconvenience, but it certainly strikes me as odd, and a bit annoying. otherwise my internet works perfectly.
has anyone else had this kind of situation?

no, it's probably the shortcut "link" gone bad. Just delete the link and drag the one from the "start" menu to the desktop. Poof! Fixed.

no. it's not that. i've found i also can't access links which open new windows. for example... if i were to click on the 'korean jobs' link at the top of this page, the same thing would happen. the window will open for a split second, and then shut itself down again.

You could try installing a fresh copy of I.E.

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/downloads/default.mspx

You'd be surprised (at least I was when I first found out) to know that sometimes drivers just "stop" working (for some reason or another).

Ahh... my dear friend, for that, you're going to have to start travelling backwards.
