For some reason, receiving calls from Canada is preoving to be a pain in the arse.

I have a pre-pay hand phone. Number is:

010-5555-5555 (I've left the right initial exchange).

I live in Uijeongbu, but seems to be a Seoul phone - biut never had any problems with that. What *exactly* does someone in canada dial to reach me?

My understanding was they dial:

011-82-10-5555-5555.

011 = international line tec..
82 = Korean country code
10 = my initial 3 digits - but i understand you leave out the first "0", right?

Also, I have a Uijeongbu Land Line:

031-5555-5555

What would someone dial from Canada to get that number?

Any help here would be appreciated.

Also leave out the "0" in 031. The land lines seem to be more reliable for receiving int. calls. Hope this helps.

Hmm...all my fellow teachers can get calls from Canada and the USA on their cell phones.

BUT they all have plans - I'm the only one who has a used, pre-pay cell phone. Had it for 2 years. Could this make a difference?

But for land line:

011-82-31-5555-5555 should work if they dial exactly like that?

I am in America and have cell phone with Virezon Wireless.
I have no problem receiving calls from korea, however I can't call korea from my cell phone because I don't have international calling program with my cell phone.
I didn't know I had to get international calling program with my cell phone to reach in korea, but when I tried to call, that's what Virezon ( recording voice ) told me, so I bought $ 10 AT&T international prepaid phone card and that worked out, it's much cheaper too.

When I call korea from America....
1 800 850 9524 ( This is what prepaid phone card said on card ),
then I dial 12 another numbers they tell me to dial ( This is also what prepaid phone card said on card ),
then I dial 011 82 2 ( Seoul ) plus my mom's phone numbers.

Hope this help.

Best option of all if you and the people back in Canada are computer literate is Skype. I use it all the time to talk to them and they can call me.
    Computer-to-computer (via headset microphone) is free.
    Computer-to-land line = $0.02 / minute.
    Computer-to-cell = $0.08 / minute.
I have received phone calls on my cell from my parents and grandparents in Canada via Skype. The sound quality can vary but is often better than direct calls. Exponentially cheaper and a free download of hte program... that IS the way to go. Unless of course you/they don't have a computer... then yer screwed.

Maybe your cell phone currently has a block on receiving international phone calls. Call your service provider and ask them to check that out. If so, they should be able to change it so you can receive all calls.

Just an idea.

what do you mean you had the same problem?

dialing 001 82 10 ---- ---- to get my cell phone is exactly what everyone says should work - and doesn't.
