just want to get an estimate. how much are the ballpark figure for airline tickets?

also, cost of living/traveling/etc. on a per day basis?

dangers? perks? the must do/buy while you're there?

KOREANAIR.COM
1,090,000 return not including tax. Via Dubai.

SINGAPOREAIR.COM
1,118,800 return including tax. Via Singapore and Dubai.

EMIRATES.COM
1,296,300 return including tax. Via Dubai.

TURKISHAIRLINES.COM
960,000 return not including tax. Via Istanbul.

KLM.COM
1,337,000 return including tax. Via Amsterdam.

I guess I would bring another 500,000 to cover: accommodation, food, visa and internal travel (assuming a 1 week stay).

All up my estimate would be about 1.5 to 1.9 depending on how luxuriously or cheaply you like to travel.

500 bucks sounds about right for a week. If you are cheap, you'll spend half that. There is another thread on Egypt that was from 1-2 weeks ago. Might want to scroll down a bit.

Egypt thread

Personally (as you'll read for yourself) I think a couple of the posters are a little paranoid about the place, but that should give you some more info.

when is high and low season, if there is one at all? i would figure summer would be low due to the heat.

any good shopping to do there? things you have to do (aside from the pyramids/valley of the kings)?? the wilder the better i say. i've done zero research on this idea, as i just was seriously considering going as of yesterday. how are the neighboring countries like? worth visiting?

Be smart, be safe, have a great time.

Bum, I know it must have been a rough and troubled time for you to be bringing it all up again..... but try to let go and move on. It can be hard I know, but you will get past that very difficult time eventually. Just take a deep breath and let go of the bad feelings....

Shopping: what are you looking for? Lot of people buy hookahs. Other than that, I don't think there really is much one would want to buy there.

Are you into snorkling or diving at all? If so, you have to go to Sinai. The red sea is amazing.

If you want to check out a nice oasis, Siwa is worth it.

The high seasons are December-January and July-August.

Why do you think I didn't respond to your last drivel on that thread?

Been to Egypt twice. the last trip was recent.

I felt no fear form the place. Was there for a week in Cairo. Had a plane ticket to go to Luxor but the flight was delayed by bad fog and never went South. (that trip)

I would not worry about terrorism or crime there.

The Egyption people are very friendly and warm.

Summer is very hot there, it is the low season. But it is still a good time to go.

I stayed at the Sheraton in Cairo. it was a great hotel and maybe $60 a night. (US$) There are plenty of less expensive hotels there.

I walked around the city for hours to get the behind the scence view - see how the Egyption people really live.

Budget maybe 5 days for Cairo. 2 days for other cities you want to visit.

If you like snorkling or scuba go to the Sinai or Taba or even Isreal. i went to Israel, Egypt, and Jordan on that trip.

It's worth going and one of the best trips you can make.
