EU proposes cat and dog fur ban
It takes 24 cats to make a coat
Steps to ban trade in cat and dog fur across the EU have been announced by the European Commission.
The move follows a request for action from EU member states, and a campaign by Paul McCartney and his estranged wife, Heather Mills McCartney.
It is estimated that two million cats and dogs are being killed in China by fur traders each year.
Fifteen EU states have already taken some action on cat and dog fur, but it is still legal in the other 10.

I would most definately support it!. I think it's soo disgusting the amount of fur on clothing here. It's totally acceptable and they probably think it's really 'cool'. I'm trying to find a winter jacket but all of the ones I have liked so far have real fur on them. I guess with the whole Korean rationale of let's eat the entire animal( heads feet and god knows what else) and basically treat them how ever they want, it makes sense. Like in a country where are they are trying so hard to be westernized, animal welfare is sure taking the back seat. Why do you need to wear an animals fur.... especially cat and dog? it's disgusting. Any country taking this step to ban dog and cat fur ( should be all fur) are doing our cute and cuddly friends a service. |

Weird. I'm having one of those days where I read everything wrong. I thought it was going to be about banning cat and dog fur from being shed, and that the first sentence was "it takes 24 hours to make a cat." |
