That means anyone who has taught in Korea has an ideal background and will be on a similar payscale!
The ad is possible. However, there are some hotels in German and Swiss citites that will pay DOUBLE the above (I've worked in a couple - it's what financed my university costs!) and as living costs are lower in those cities than in London, would in fact be a better deal.
But what's more rewarding? Scraping dung out of hotel toilets, or scraping English from the mouths of Korean students? |

Isn't 4000 pounds a month pretty good for an English teacher, though London is expensive, and you'd need to pay for the flight/visa and rent?
Hotpants: Did you actually make double that, anywhere? Seems to me one would never leave with a salary like that!
(Accountant is only 3000, and electrician or plumber a mere 1250? That doesn't seem right.)
Why would they be recruiting people outside England though, especially English teachers, if the pay and job are good? |

I was never a teacher in a hotel - I just cleaned toilets, but I did get paid about 4 million won a month in one of them. Not exactly enjoyable work, though...
4000 pounds sounds a bit high for this position, and there could be certain catches - a 60 hour week? high tax rate? unpaid accom - especially as it's announced via a 3rd party. But, heck, if you are interested, why not go for it?
It seems a lot of hotels are looking for teachers these days. I was once offered a teaching position in the Maldives. I was tempted by paradise, but when I receive the full list of things I would have been expected to do, I declined the offer. Pay was then about US$600 a month with free flight and shared accom. |
