Nowon-gu, that is. Recent threads such as this are a reminder of why Nowon is, without a doubt, the best place in this god-forsaken cesspool of a city to live in. I have found another. Deep in the seventh pit of hell that is the basement of Lotte Department store is nestled a small Mexican restaurant, more of a stand, really. In any case, I had a chance to try it out last night and it was both cheap (3000 won for a taco) and tasty (real cheese and sour cream, and properly spiced beef.)

Harvey Keitel had this to remark "Let's go get a taco." While Samuel L. Jackson was heard to exclaim "MMMMM-HMMMMmm! That is a tasty taco!"

In any case, reason 247 why Nowon is better than where you live.

Another vote for the 'Gu' here.

I enjoyed living there and thought the Hagye, Junggye and Sanggye areas were as nice as anything Bundang has to offer.

In fact, wifey and I are moving back up Line 7 next week. To Sangbong. Not quite Nowon Gu but near enough.

Screw Bundang!

I've been to Nowon, and I see through your naughty scheme! You're desperately bored and lonely living up there, and you're trying to seduce other people into moving in and spicing up the neighbhourhood! Shame on you!

I've only been once but I liked it very much. Went for samgyapsal at a barbecue place. Reasonably priced, plenty of people and a good atmosphere. Not unlike Sincheon (near Hongdae) I thought....

It is a lot like Sinchon...except it's an hour away from anywhere else you might like to go in Seoul.

But, why would you want to go anywhere else?

Yeah, I'm not into it.

I've a good mate in Nowon who I almost never see for the simple reason he lives all the way up there. I go to Cheonan on the KTX in much less time!

It's about 400 miles away from Itaewon and downtown, even further from Hongdae and Kangnam and about 40 transfers on the subway and an 8 month journey.

Mind you, when ever I have been there, it always looked modern and cleaner than where I live. Nevetheless, it'd take a big rise to get me up there. I'd actually rather move out of Seoul than go there.

Deary me, man, your approach is all wrong.

Itaewon, Myeongdong, Insadong.....definitely disadvantageous to have them an hour away on the subway IMO.

Wrong. Keeps the riff-raff away from the 'Gu.

I'm sure it was only a 20-25 minute subway ride from dongdaemun stadium - is it really so far away from central?
