I have yet to do a lesson involving music and I feel soon it may be time...
the problem is I want to do a song that they will actually enjoy and is 'cool' to them etc.
Any si\uggestions?
Also what are some different ways to do songs other than just cloze activites?
Also... is anyone planning on doing christmas music lessons?
what are your ideas?
thanks! |

I'm in my third year teaching middle school (mostly boys). What they think is cool here tend to be old, catchy songs or ballads.
I've used these songs and the students have enoyed them.
Jingle Bell Rock, old school version. They love this song!
Feliz Navidad (not many lyrics to learn, there is a korean version of this)
Santa Claus is coming to town (Mariah Carey Version)
Activities,
Make Christmas cards, or even better is making those snowflake things. They really love those. Get some glitter glue to spruce 'em up. |

You're a Mean one Mr. Grinch - Burl Ives
I've taught this to 40-50 year old men and had them singing as loud as they could. It goes over with all ages - follow it up with the 1966 cartoon and you're sure to have a winner. Don't show that piece of shite with Jim Carrey in it, be sure to use the original. |

Many Koreans know and like "Last Christmas"......George Michael.
Take a look at my x-mas link, on my site. Some Christmas songs, more will be updated soon along with cards. Also a pretty useful powerpoint and a reading of The Night Before X-mas by the Cricket himself....

I've posted some new things on my Christmas page/folder..... Just want to let others know that there are some good Christmas ppts and jeopardy games, as well as carols. Lots to use and make some interesting Christmas lessons. I will upload shortly (once I find them somewhere on my external hard drive), some card templates. I personally like the 12 days of X-mas one and will soon write some explanation on the best way to teach/sing this song. ......
Use my website,
www.ddd.batcave.net
or direct to the folder at
http://www.esnips.com/web/MERRYCHRISTMAS
If you really want a christmas gift, you can find one at my powerpoints site. A very complete syllabus and flashcards..
Cheers, merry merry,
