Just read this thread, "Anyone gone back to hagwans?", and I was surprised at what I read.

Some of you are familiar with a few of my recent threads.
I have to make a deicison next week, andI ahve been offered a couple of uni jobs. I am tempted to tak one just for my own perceived cachet (which mean I have no idae if a uni job is good or not), but I ahve been surprised at some of the negativity towards uni work.

So, without any qualifiers whatsoever, I want to know,

HAKWON, PUBLIC OR UNI, which is better?

Vote above, discuss here.

Either you are drunk, or have serious typing/spelling issues. Either way, you're an ideal candidate for university work. Good luck.

I have done all 3 and I vote for public-elementary.

One big caveat here though... I like working with kids. Many people don't.

A lot depends on the kind of person you are. If you like working with young kids, try elementary or middle school. I've never worked at a Korean high school so I don't know much about that. Adult classes in my experience are very much hit and miss...some you will have a lot of fun with and they will probably be your best classes, but others will be miserable, hard to please people who will bore the life out of you.

Which are the hagwons that would be most likely to be similar to language academies overseas in terms of curriculum, support and learner expectations?

British Council would be one I'm guessing.New Zealand Centre could be another.Has anybody worked at these places here?
