The reason i ask is because my hogwon recently advertised in print that all the teachers of the school graduated from either Harvard, Yale, Oxford, or Cambridge. Let me say outright, I went to a decent university (University of British Columbia), but I DID not graduate from the school listed in the advertisement. Furthermore, two teachers in the advertisement do not even work at our school. In fact, i've never seen them before; but they gratuated from Harvard and Yale.

Anyone's school play this game?

I knew someone who graduated from Oxford teaching in Korea, although her school didn't require it- it just happened to be the job she took.

I worked with a Harvard M.Ed graduate a couple of years ago. She was the worst teacher I've ever seen and was a complete nut case.

Brian Lee of Ewha American Language School had a very urbane graduate of the University of Pennsylvania in his employ for several years.

Some Ivy League graduates come to korea as esl teachers, but they don't stay too long at there, they often find another position at major korean companies like Samsung or Hyundai and they usually work at oversea branch at these Cos.
One Havard graduate came to korea as esl teacher, but he became a Budish monk and live at temple in mountain. He wrote a book about his case and his religion, it' was interesting.

Did a camp with a guy from Columbia. He spent all his time avoiding the classes he was supposed to teach. They booted him out.

I knew someone who was accepted by the Cambridge Ph.D. program (she's been there for a little over a year now). She already had a master's from a uni. in B.C. Anyway, she came here expressly to work her arse off and make a ton of $ (she had to prove she had $125,000 in the bank to support herself while she was studying). She was the most professional teacher I've ever seen, and her students made marked progress (she gave a lot of regular writing assignments to her 100 plus univ. students).

I understand that a number of Ivy League Gyopos come here to teach because they can make 6-figure salaries American in the big name prep schools in Gangnam.

Highly educated private tutors can clean up here -- make much more than if they worked in a "normal" job.

I only met one "White" Ivy Leauge graduate. She was all-right. But, she did not seem to get far with the Korean staff and she eventually moved on to a company doing business or computers or something like that.

My first co worker was an Oxford grad. He was just doing a year off and fancied Korea, it wasn't a career choice but still the school (a small one in a small town) really got lucky that their recruiter turfed up a guy from such a famous uni and amazingly they didn't market this at all (no mention of it in ads ect.)
