Just got my christmas package from home.
I tried not to look at the customs lable, I just could not help my self. Now I know what I am getting for Christmas.
Yeterday I put up my fake tree ( 14 inches of white wire cone with a star on top ) and lights.
I use Yahoo radio to get my Christmas music.
Still I do not feel the holiday spirit.
I think I will need Egg Nog and snow for that. |

Santa is Korean, ask anyone. He rides a slay made of kimchi!
Also, he doesn't live at the North Pole. According to my kids he lives in Switzerland. AWESOME!!!
(true except kimchi remark)
Yeah, I'll be spending Christmas alone. It totally sucks. |

Do you know Santa is called Santa 하라버지 here?
To the OP: Some Xmas spirit ideas...
성탄 is 'Christmas'. You may see it around.
하늘 높 은 대서는 하느님게 영 광
means Gloria in excelsis Deo. This phrase (singing songs that have it) always brings back Xmas for me. I also joined a choir to prepare for Christmas. It's a pure shot of Christmas juice straight in the arm. (well except for the long rehearsals).
In our English village, I started a cutout mural of a black and green paper town-and-hills skyline for Bethlehem, along our big window, and started a manger scene with the help of interested students, and we've got up paper shepherds, angels, and the three kings (with camels and personal bodyguard soldiers) coming from the upper back of the classroom. Next week I'll put up a tinfoil star and the final week, we'll have hot drinks and sing Xmas stuff.
It will still suck not to be home, but it won't be as bad because I'm putting an effort into it.
I was thinking about a Praesepio party, get some friends to help make a miniature city of Bethlehem in the corner of my apartment. I have no idea what I'll come up with but maybe Hello Kitty, Yugioh and GI Joe will populate Bethlehem, wandering the cottonball-lined streets.
Anyway, maybe stringing popcorn would be enough for you.
Good luck! |

Christmas and Bday alone for me. Well, kind of. I've always got Itaewon and Hongdae.
A bottle of Baileys and 20 cans of stella will get me right in the xmas spirit |

i'm sure this is a wiseass question from someone who already knows the answer...but hey...
in my experience, xmas is a shopping day, most people get the day off, so why not celebrate with some shopping? as for me, what i've done in the past, and will be doing again this year, is to invite over to my place any and all friends and acquaintances who haven't left the country for warmer climes, to partake in an xmas potluck, gift exchange, drinking, and porn-watching extravaganza...at least that's what has always happened before...and who's to say it won't happen again this year?
i'm not really big on xmas, but i can sure get behind any reason to eat, drink, get stuff from other people and watch porn with a group!
as for xmas packages, got mine, it's clearly labelled, and yet i won't be opening it until xmas day, because my wife says i'm not allowed to.

Eggnog! My kingdom for some eggnog and rum! A good ol' Christmas dinner would do wonders, too... |

In the states Christmas is thought of as more about gift giving and receiving(how sad), and in Korea, it is thought of as more of a romantic holiday. Every year, OnStyle TV channel does the Pink Christmas, Pink Scandal showing of romantic movies, like Love Actually... |

Christmas comes but once a year,
It's a time for banging some new chick,
Traditionally someone other than your wife.
It's celebrated much the same way in Japan, too. Big business-expense night. |
