Have we become so used to hearing that "this was the bloodiest week since the US-led invasion began", and of "kidnappings" and "bombs" and "armed groups/militia" that it's just become the norm? Here's the latest...

I and others are mostly tired of Iraq. What has been more shocking is that there were some on this board that supported the war.

Anyway, the violence continues and Bush tries to put on a brave face. The good news is that the U.S. is now planning it's exit. Chimp Cheny will visit Saudi net week, and the iraqi prime minister will meet with George Shrub (he aint big enough o be a bush) and you can guess what they will all be talking about. That's right; the exit plan. And I'm sure the people who were so eager for the war will take comfort in knowing that Saddam is now gone and that's what is most important.

There are still some that think America needs to be there fighting the terrorists in Iraq, and keeping America safe.

Well, you don't see much of Joo Rip Gwa Rhee here anymore- who else supported the invasion of Iraq? Dulouz maybe?

I supported regime change and I didn't mind GW Bush lying to the public about WMD's, but that's about it-not a day of an occupation.

It truly is sad what the americans did to Iraq. The blood of every Iraqi killed in that country in the past 3.5 years in on the hands of america.

Do people really believe this? That, if the battle were not being played out in Iraq, then the terrorists would be waging armed war on the streets on America? That seems to be the crux of the recent propoganda that I've seen on AFN.

The "war against terror" is an international battlefield.

Seems a good strategy to concentrate the theater of operation to lets say Iraq. Hopefully that attracts the main strike force of the enemy.

Unfortunately it not only attracts that main strike force it involves factions of other rivalries.

If you want to disable a hit and run army (nomad raiders) you must operate in the same manner.

Develop hit and run tactics on an international scale, make them quick decisive and very very accurate (read no collaterals).

Occupation does not work without the support of the occupied.

There are some who still believe this. Even Bush has said that the war in Iraq is the center on the war on terror.

The tone for the support of the war has decreased in recent months. I think that many might have thought the war was wrong but still wanted to see some sort of visible victory, and that seems to be almost impossible now, though I don't think it is. Maybe the focus will now be more political and less militarily.

Saddam had to be dealt with, and unfortunately it was a bad plan and lacked any legitimate support. The sudden rush to war and the lies leading to the war made things worse.

It's all a very big problem and I'll hate to see what happens if there's an early exit. Maybe it will be the start of a long civil war that will bring increased instability to the M/E. Iran might want to move in after the Americans leave and that would probably worse than what's going on now.

It is now a civil war, and the only reason why it's not a real blood bath is because of the occupying forces.
