Hey guys,
I just wanted to tell you about a fun game that I played with some Japanese high school students that came for a special program with my univeristy that you might want to try with your classes.

So what you do is first get a bunch of 3X5 index cards or something and write an object on there-i.e. hat, horse, window, couch, cow, dog, TV, etc.

One person picks a card and stands in front of the room. The rest of the students can only ask yes or no questions to that person to try to figure out what it is. These questions should be something like: is it alive, is it inside or outside, is it in a house, does everyone have one, do you use it everyday, etc. You can get involved in the first few rounds to give them suggestions of questions to ask and then kind of sit aside and facilitate after that and let the students take over.

It is a good game to help the students to learn how to ask questions. It might be a little challenging, so it might be good for the older students more than the younger.

Excellent idea! Sounds like fun. Do you ever run into the problem of the kids reverting back into Korean because it's so fast-paced and exciting?

No, the only problem I ran into was sometimes the students were either shy or did not know how to ask many different types of questions. Everyone really seemed to enjoy it though.

Oh, another one I thought of last night (probably been brought up on here before) is two truths and a lie. We always do this on the first meeting of our ELI classes. Basically you come up with 3 statements about yourself. Two of them have to be true and one has to be a lie. It can be fun because sometimes people have some amazing truths!
