| If the concept of "The Beatles, remixed" saddens you, know that original Beatles producer George Martin was at the helm for this project, which serves as the soundtrack to the Vegas-based Cirque du Soleil show of the same name. The 26 mashed-up tracks here were augmented with additional instrumentation and vocals performed by The Beatles themselves, culled from hours of original demo and master tapes, with pieces of 130 songs ultimately represented in some form. |

Hmm... I guess it depends. If it's just 're-mixed', as in still having an original and authentic Beatles sound, only re-interpreted somewhat, it could be pretty good couldn't it? But if there's any cheap indulgent new age junk with lame sound fx or something involved (was just wondering, cuz the George Martin plus Cirque to Soleil thing sounded a bit iffy), then I'd pass. Basically I'm not really into classics being 'slicked' over, I prefer the somewhat rougher original cuts.
Overall, sounds like it could be interesting. I'd have to take a listen first though. |

| Im initially a bit leery of the concept. But George Martin has impacable taste, so we'll have to wait and see... |

I'll download it to see what I think and then buy it if I like it. If it were a true Beatles album, I wouldn't bother with downloading and I would just buy it. But since it's not their actual work, I'll check it out first.

| Did anyone hear DJ Dangermouse's mash-up of The White Album? He used instrumentals from this album, and put Jay Z's lyrics from The Black Album over the top. It was called the Grey Album, and IMO was pretty damn good. Helter Skelter/99 Problems was my fave. |

Sir George may not dig the concept, but the two surviving Beatles, along with Lennon & Harrison's widows have thrown their support behind the project.
All they need is cash ???? Not. |

The best part is when John Lennon starts breakdancing.
Well, the best part is that chick with the big boobs, but you know what I mean. |

i was skeptical at first, but i really like this album.
its a remixing, certainly, with songs mashed together and flowing across tracks and all, but the effect is very powerful and nostalgic in a mostly un-cheesy way.
though it does feel more like a soundtrack to a musical -- or in this case, i guess, a circus -- than a proper album. as a result, i suspect i will only be able to play it a limited number of times before it simply becomes a caricature of itself.
still, with the details more clear, different things brought out front to be accentuated, new levels to be heard, it's really an interesting listen.
