I was in the toy department at Homeplus the other day and considered getting my students Christmas gifts. If I were to spend a few thousand won per student, I'd be shelling out a couple hundred thousand won. It's a lot of lettuce from my wallet, but I can afford it, and I really like the kids.

Here's one of the problems. It's an all-or-none situation. I can't give presents to my favorites and ignore the other kids. Plus, the other teachers' kids will wonder where their gifts are.

Should I just get everyone some candy or a cheap pencil?
Should I forget the idea and give the money to charity?
Should I burn an upside down cross on my forehead and write "Helter Skelter" on the hogwon walls with kimchi?

Should you think for yourself?

Would you get online and ask people this facile question back wherever you're from?

Giving pencils to the kids who never have them -- thanks for the idea!

You HATE me? Man, calm down. Who cares if I like to ask and answer a lot of questions on here. Maybe you have too much pride to ask questions, Mr. Know-It-All. I've seen a few of your posts where you come across as a complete a$$. If you're tired of certain questions, why don't you just take a break from this site. Get a girlfriend or something.

Why. They instantly lose them. I can't figure out what kids do with pencils. Perhaps they eat them, or use them for firewood, or build a house in the country. Buying kids pencils is like flushing your loot down the toilet.
